Tea, anyone?

Hitty Minka found some new friends loitering around on the couch this week.

She decided to serve them some tea in the hope of reviving their color.

She is a good hostess.

So far, Hittys 53 and 54 are very similar in looks to Minka...we'll see what happens after they get their faces.

They are carved and sanded and as soon as they have had their peg holes drilled (tonight?), they will be ready to be painted.

After that, they will be available for adoption.

Hitty No. 51 and a New Dress...

Today I have a new Hitty to share with you.

I am pleased to introduce Hitty No. 51.

 

She was carved, by me, from a basswood blank cut by John Atkinson. She was then carefully painted and sealed using acrylic paints and sealer and strung together using heavy duty clear elastic cord. She is jointed at the shoulders and hips and her arms and legs move freely for poseability and movement.

 

 

Her dress, which you have seen before, was made from 100% cotton quilting fabric in the Plain Jane style; however, the bodice has been embellished with delicate machine embroidery for an extra little pizzazz. The dress is open in the back for easy dressing and fastens closed with two snaps. On the back of the dress, I sewed two little blue buttons. The bodice is fully lined and the hem is hand-sewn.

 

Under her dress, she is wearing cotton pantalettes made from a pair of embroidered curtains. They tie at the waist with a drawstring.

 

On her feet she is wearing delicate ankle socks and sweet little mary janes.

She is signed and dated on her backside.

Today I also have one new dress to add to my shop. I would like to make more of these with different colors of embroidery, but I will need to buy more white fabric before I can do so.

 

 

 

This dress was made from 100% cotton fabric in the Plain Jane style with added blue embroidery on the bodice for a little kick. It is open in the back for easy dressing and fastens closed with a straight pin. You add your own snaps for a custom fit. The bodice is fully lined and the hem hand-sewn.
