As you all know, I have committed to making 100 dresses for Hitty Dauphine; well, she will not be the recipient of all 100 dresses, just some of them, but it is by her prompting that we are engaging in this project. We...pbfpbfpbf...I sew, she models. And as promised, today I am ready to unveil dresses 3 and 4 of our 100 Dresses project. We actually have more, but we have decided to reveal them a little at a time over these next few weeks so that I can actually put away my sewing machine and "enjoy" the holidays...meaning, work really hard to make sure everyone else enjoys the holidays. I enjoy having everyone home though.
Dress Number Three is a dress that is a knock-off of the dress on the cover of the book, Hitty, Her First Hundred Years. Oh my goodness, do you see a pattern emerging? 100 years, 100 dresses...I wonder if I will start seeing the fine number 100 everywhere. Here is a picture of the cover dress.
Here is our humble version. We just need the big red button or maybe pink in our case. Perhaps I will try this one again later with set in sleeves, more like the book.
Our next dress, Dress Number Four, is the Kathleen Dress. Named after my good friend Kathleen W. for which this was made. I usually knock out dresses in an hour or less, this dress took me several days to get just right. I hope she likes it. Kathleen, close your eyes if you haven't received it yet.
Here is a close-up. I want you to be sure to see the tiny pleating.
It was made in conjunction with this wee quilt...I am NOT a quilt maker so those of you who are, please look with grace upon my humble attempt.
Here is a close-up of the embroidery.
Kathleen is a very special and generous lady and she is an extremely accomplished sewer. Why she agreed to swap with me I do not know. I wanted to make sure I made something special for her.

Well, for today that is all...come back tomorrow for Pink Saturday!
Happy Holidays to all (and stay tuned for more amazing snow pictures as we have been promised something like 16 inches of snow in the next 24 hours)!
