100th Post Blog-o-rific Blog Party!!!

Please note:  This is the 100th blog post party from my other blog Fairiemoon.

 

Welcome! Come one, come all! Today is the day for which we have all been waiting!

Fairiemoon's 100th Blog Post, Blog-o-rific Party!

I am glad you all could make it!

Since I have so much to share with you today, I am going to proceed in chapters so that you can enjoy yourself without getting lost in this post.

Chapter One: Final Preparations

Well, as you know, Hitty Dauphine has been busy with preparations for her party. I think she has everything in order now. Let's take a peek and see...

Is everything ready?  The Tea is brewing...

...and the Pizzas have been delivered.

All the decorations have been perfectly placed and the party hats are ready for the kids.

The cake table holds all kinds of delicious baked goods.

Each cake was lovingly baked by Becassine, Mrs. Witherwax and Hitty Dauphine and then carefully frosted and decorated. Becassine is a wonder with frosting.

Have you guessed our theme yet? Hitty Dauphine (meaning me) wants desperately to visit Disneyland, so we are having a Minnie Mouse themed party!

It looks like you have remembered everything, Hitty Dauphine! But quick! It's time to get dressed! Your guests will be arriving soon!

Becassine helps Hitty Dauphine tie the bow on the brand new party dress that Mrs. Witherwax helped her make. Dauphine was insistent that it match her party theme. It took some searching to find just the right polka-dot print!

Becassine is all dressed up in her fancy apron from France! Hitty Dauphine wonders if everyone will be wearing their finest gowns today. She is very excited to find out!

Chapter Two: The Guest Begin to Arrive

As soon as Hitty Dauphine arrived back downstairs in the Weathertop parlor, the guests began to arrive.

"Happy Birthday Hitty Dauphine!" Tom and Niamh exclaimed together.

"Niamh, Tom and Baby Sophie, I am so glad you could make it to my party today. I have toys in the nursery upstairs for the little ones. Whenever Sophie gets tired of being with the grown-ups, you're welcome to take her up there. I am sure there will be other babies for her to play with arriving soon."

"Welcome Hitty Bookish and Holly D! I am so glad you could join me today! Where is Dido Twite, she is usually with you?"

"Oh, she will be coming later. Her cousin was late in arriving and needed a little time to get ready." Hitty Bookish explained.

Little by little, the room began to fill up.

When Bittys Ham and June arrived, they made straight for the refreshments, but someone beat them there.

"Tea Party!!!" Ham, June and Periwinkle all cried together. They LOVE having tea parties...What little girl doesn't?

Chapter Three: Tea Party

It didn't take Periwinkle and her friends long to find the refreshments.

But they're not the only ones interested in a tea party.

Spook wants some too!

"SHOO!" Snowdrop runs over to shoo him away. "SHOO!"

Poor Spook!

"I want some too!" Butterbean cries.

But some little wooden tots are just not big enough to reach the table on their own.

"I'll help you Butterbean!" Hitty Dauphine says, picking the little girl up.

Hitty Dauphine helped her pour some tea and then helped her find a safe place to drink it.

Butterbean snuggled into Granny Witherwax's big comfy lap, a perfect place for a tea party!

Chapter Four: Party Games

In the meantime, more guests arrived...

...and got settled in for some fun! Hats with goofy ears attached, what could be more fun than that?

Jem found the cat trying to have a cup of tea again...Spook must be addicted to caffeine just like me!

"You better be careful Spook or someone will come and shoo you away again! And this time they might decide to put you outside where you won't be able to enjoy the fun!" Jem admonished the kitty.

Some of the kids went upstairs to have some fun with the games and toys Hitty Dauphine had set out for them.

Tom and Baby Sophie certainly did find some other children with which to play. And look! Harry and Ron came to the party, even though their new movie will be coming out within LESS than a WEEK! Bittys Nissa and Libby look a little starstruck!

"Let's play Monopoly!" Said Penelope, getting out the monopoly board.

"Sounds good to me!" Exclaimed JJ plopping down next to the board.

"Look, I rolled an EIGHT!" Squealed Tibbens.

Meanwhile, back downstairs...

Jem and Periwinkle found a safe place to play with Spook.

"You'll be alright down here, Spook!" Periwinkle reassured the cat as the party reached a dull roar in the room around them. Someone important must have just arrived. Let's see!

Chapter Five: Dido Twite and her Cousin

"Hey look," said Hitty Dauphine. "There is Dido Twite! But goodness the room has gotten crowded."

"Dido! Dido!" Hitty Dauphine called, but Dido Twite could not hear her over the din of the crowd. "I must try to get closer." Dauphine thought to herself.

But as soon as she started to move across the room, the crowd tightened around Dido Twite and her cousin.

"HEY!" Said Hitty Dauphine aloud. "Is that girl wearing the same dress as me? How could that be? I had mine specially made just for today!" This made her even more determined to work her way over to the newcomers.

"SURPRISE!!!" Everyone yelled.

"We knew how much you wanted a sister, Hitty Dauphine!" Said Mrs. Witherwax. "So we made sure she arrived just in time to celebrate your birthday with you! This is Evalina. Hitty Evalina, this is Hitty Dauphine."

"This is just the best birthday present ever!" Sighed Hitty Dauphine as she embraced her new sister.

"Sisters. Sisters. There were never such devoted sisters..."

 

Chapter Six: Happy Birthday to YOU!

"It's time to have the cake! Everyone gather round to sing Happy Birthday to Hitty Dauphine!" Mrs. Witherwax said, hustling everyone in line.

"Happy Birthday to You! Happy Birthday to You!..."

Time to blow out the candles!

There are so many different treats, everyone gets to pick his or her favorite.

"I want this one it looks like a little present!" Bitty June exclaimed.

"I'll take this piece." Sadie said reaching for the entire birthday cake! I think some little wooden people's eyes are little bigger than their stomachs...

Poor little Butterbean again can't reach her own cake, so she is trying to eat someone else's piece.

Uh-oh! What has Jem found?

Trust Jem to find a jar of candy!

Not that the entire room isn't filled with sweets.

I hope he is willing to share with his partner in crime!

And her sister!

What a delicious end to a fabulous day!

Life couldn't get much sweeter. Could it?

And that is the end of Hitty Dauphine's Birthday Party! I hope you enjoyed yourself and found something tasty to feast your eyes upon!

And now for the part you have all been waiting for! The give-aways!

In honor of my 100th Post (and Hitty Dauphine's birthday, of course), I would like to conduct a drawing to give five special guests a gift from Weathertop and Fairiemoon! WHY? The first name drawn will win this lovely, hand-carved clothespin doll.

She is a lovely little doll, carved by me from a clothespin. I would be glad to send her to you as she is or I can add a little loop at the top of her head so that you can hang her from your Christmas tree or some other knob or hook in your house. Due to all of the preparations I have been making all week, I did not have time to dress her, but I will dress her in a fluffy white skirt before she travels to your home. I have four more of these little darlings that I hope to have in my shop later this week...all dressed of course.

The second name drawn will win this pair of earrings.

They are made from sterling and fine silver findings and beads and feature an ear hook of my own design that will prevent them from falling out of your ears! You can see more of my jewelry here.

The third, fourth and fifth names draw with each win a Cherry Pit doll.

These, true to their name, have head made from cherry pits. The body, arms and legs have been hand-carved by me and have been strung to their bodies using a strong elastic cord so they can move in a variety of positions.

They can hang upside down...or climb statues.

I have ten more of these little darlings and a few more treats and baubles that I will be popping into my Etsy store Monday morning, July 13th by 10:00 Eastern time so please check back for an update!

In which we chase the winter blues away

Hitty Dauphine was feeling lonely and a little blue about all of the cold weather and snow at Weathertop.

So she decided to invite Snowdrop over for a playdate. (...Okay, so for the sake of our story, pretend for the moment that they don't both live at Weathertop...)

They were both so excited to be together with a whole day ahead of them for fun.

But what to do first?

Hitty Dauphine took Snowdrop up to the playroom.

They decided to play with the dollhouse first. It was fun rearranging the furniture.

After they had played with the dollhouse for awhile Snowdrop suggested that they roll up the carpet and play marbles. She took care of the carpet while Hitty Dauphine put the dollhouse away.

Snowdrop had brought her jar of marbles with her.

She spread the marbles out one the floor.

And Hitty Dauphine got her marble bag.

"I won the pretty blue marble. Yay!" Hitty Dauphine exclaimed.

Hitty Dauphine had fixed her guest a special snack,

which they enjoyed together in front of the fire. The winter doesn't seem nearly as long when you are having fun with friends!

Today, Snowdrop and Hitty Dauphine are sporting some new dresses. Dresses 16 and 17 of our 100 Dresses, to be exact (15 will come later in the post). We'd like to give you a closer look.

Dress sixteen was made from 100% cotton in a blue floral print. It features a square neckline with inserted foamy white lace which matches the lace at the sleeves and the hem of her dress.

It even has its very own authenticity tag.

Dress seventeen was also made from 100% cotton in a crisp blue and white print.

It also features a square neckline with a white faux crossover dickie inserted in the neckline that matches the ruffles on the sleeves and the underskirt peeking out from under the dress.

These two dresses will be offered for sale on ebay, starting Saturday morning and running for three days.

Here is dress number fifteen. It is made from 100% cotton in a white on white print. The print reminds me of the buzzing lines of a bee.

I made this dress to travel in a round robin that we are holding on Hittygirls. It will travel to several Hitty friends and each person who receives it will add a little something to the dress and then send it on to the next person on the list. At the end, I will receive my dress back embellished by many loving hands at which time I will share it again with you. I wanted to make a very basic dress for this purpose and so chose a plain white fabric and very plain dress pattern with a rounded neckline.

While I like this dress...I might have to redo the skirt and lengthen it a little bit...I tend to like my Hitty dresses a bit longer, but it received a tag, none-the-less.

I have already begun working on the next installment of dresses, which will feature a lot of green. We must start preparing for St. Patrick's Day, you know! I am hoping to have the first batch finished early next week.

Winter Break and New Dolls...

Let's see how many tantalizing words I can come up with to describe a Winter Break. (For that you will just have to stay tuned).

Today was a lazy and cozy kind of day.

I worked on some dolls. This one in front is a birch Hitty carved by me from a Judy Brown blank. Her sealer is drying. I had a little mishap today when putting on the first coat... I painted her hair last week and it should have been more than dry, but when I painted on the first coat of sealer today, the hair ran like a melting popsicle. I worked very carefully on this doll as it is a special blank and I was heart broken and not a little bit sick to my stomach to see a black film running across her face. However, after a little doctoring, she is fine and I am not sure that I don't like her face even better with the tiny bit of patina the running hair left behind.

I think I might darken her lips just a tiny bit. They are such a pretty shape.

In which we share Hitty Valentine Confections Numbers 8 - 12 for Pink Saturday

I have spent several days sitting by the fire sewing. (I set up my sewing machine right next to my beloved little pellet stove so that I could sew and enjoy the fire ALL DAY LONG...wasn't that a good idea?) Anyway, I have some new Hitty dresses to add to my 100 Dresses Collection. AND I am cooking up a fun way to number them so that if anyone ends up receiving one of these little babies, they'll have a little authentication tag to prove that they have received a genuine Dress from the FairieMoon 100 Dresses Collection! My supplies should arrive any day now. I am not a very patient waiter...but you, my Fairie friends are super duper waiters...I have had no complaints, although I think I deserve them, about the delay of the unveiling of the Valentine Dresses...very patient indeed!

So without further ado...Dress Number 8, modelled by the lovely Hitty Snowdrop.

Snowdrop was carved by the very talented Judy Brown. Here is a close-up of the bodice. It features a cross-over inset, contrasting gathered sleeves and contrasting double skirt.

This week we wanted to offer dresses that would fit a variety of Hittys and so you will see the dresses modelled by various Hitty friends here today. This particular dress will fit my Raikes Hittys and myJudy Brown Hitty, but not Hitty Dauphine. It is just a wee bit too big in the shoulders for her.

The girls are very busy getting ready for Valentine's Day. They decided to make homemade Valentine's for their celebration this year!

Here is Dress Number 9, modelled by the lovely Hitty Dauphine, carved by me.

It was made out of a lovely sparkly cotton fabric featuring soft pink hearts.  The bodice insert consists of gathered panels of cotton lace, and the dress features the same frothy white lace at the hems of the sleeves and the skirt. It will fit your smaller artist Hittys, Judy Browns and the like.

 
Dress Number 10 is modelled by my recarved Raikes Hitty Grace...one of the first wooden dolls I made. She came pre-carved by the American Kit company (now out of business) but unfinished. I tweaked her shape ever so slightly and painted her, giving her a slightly antiqued complexion. I kind of think she looks East Indian and have always wanted to make her a Sari.

Of the three fabrics I used to make these dresses, this fabric is my favorite. It is slightly sparkly, has wee hearts scattered across it and features delicate writing, like a piece of a love letter.

The square neck on this dress features a cream colored ruffled inset that matches the ruffles at the hem of the sleeve and the underskirt. This bodice turned out to be a little bit larger and will fit my Raikes doll but is slightly smaller than the bodice on the dress below. All of the dresses will come without the snaps attached so that you can fit them individually to your dolls.

Dress Number 11 is modelled by Grace again, boy she can change fast...

It is made much to the same specifications as the dress above, with a red-ruffled inset to match the ruffles at the sleeve, but instead of an underskirt, I added a ruffle to the hem of this skirt. Again, this dress was used using a pattern made to fit a Raikes doll. It will not fit my Judy Brown Hitty, being too big through the shoulders.

Hitty Dauphine will be modelling our final dress for today, Dress Number 12.

This simple little sleeveless number will slip easily day to evening wear! Made from a slightly sparkly pink cotton sprinkled with hearts, it is very sweet and made even more delicate by the attachment of the cream colored underskirt and matching satin sash at the waist. It will fit a wide range of Hittys from Hitty Dauphine to my largest Raikes, Hitty Grace.

Ever the considerate one, Hitty Dauphine graciously agreed to wait for me to complete her own Valentine dresses so that I could bring these to you today. You can find all of these on sale featured in my ebay shop.
