I am not Catholic, but I have always been fascinated by Catholic iconography. Recently, in my search for antique sterling pendants, I found these two religious medals and knew instantly that I had to create something beautiful with them.
Sacred Heart with Pink and Turquoise Beads

The focal point of this necklace is a sterling Sacred Heart medal, the front of which reads, "Sacred Heart of Jesus Pray for Us."

The back reads, "Our Lady of Mount Carmel Pray for Us."

This necklace utilizes several lengths of different chain. I used two different types of sterling chain, a length of vintage rosary chain with pink glass beads and a sterling hand wire-wrapped link featuring a turquoise bead with a fine silver lily drop and a fresh water pearl accent. The pendant attaches to the chain with a sterling swivel clasp so you can mix and match your look, using the chain with other pendants or wearing the Sacred Heart on another chain. The chain fastens on the side with a sterling lobster clasp for another unexpected detail.

The overall length of the chain is 17 inches.

St. Theresa of the Child Jesus

The focal point of this necklace is a vintage sterling St. Theresa of the Child Jesus pendant with a tiny fresh water pearl drop. On the front it reads, "St. Theresa of the Child Jesus," and on the back,"After my death I will let fall a shower of roses. Canonized in the year 1925."

The chain was fashioned from two different types of sterling chain, a hand wire-wrapped length of sterling rosary style chain with dots of hematite, amethyst and purple glass beads and a wire-wrapped sterling link featuring a peacock/steely grey fresh water pearl.

The necklace measures 19 1/2 inches in length and fastens on the side with a sterling silver lobster clasp.
