Weathertop...

Today, I found myself featured on one of my favorite blogs, Piccalilli Days. The words and images used to describe me were so glowing and sweet, that I squealed, kicked my feet in delight, blushed horribly and let out a girlish giggle!

You see, Natalie Jo, the inspirational author of Piccalilli Days, compared me to Goldie the Dollmaker. It is not a book I have read...yet (be assured that I will), but I have always dreamed of being considered a toymaker / dollmaker, so I was thrilled. It is often enough to believe something of oneself, but so delightful to have it confirmed by someone you admire! So thank you Natalie Jo!

Through the windshield...

There is something about the unplanned shot, taken in a moment without thinking...

Here are some shots I took while we were driving to Punch's basketball game yesterday. I truly just pointed the camera and pushed the button to see what I'd get.

The last shot here is of the Hudson and the Albany skyline in the evening light.

Light and Shadow...

...In an old Dutch barn.

Sometimes the way the light plays with shadow...

..pushing and pulling into the cracks and crevices...

..like a ghostly game of tag...

...in some macabre fairyland...

...paints the most beautiful pictures...

...like stories only one's subconscious can remember.

Here is the outside of this wonderful barn.

You'll be glad to know the sun still shines on its facade, despite its ghostly interior.

Old Methodist Church...

At the top of one of the "mountains" here in the Helderbergs, is an old abandoned church.

I do mean abandoned...

...and losing ground fast.

One side is seriously leaning. I am not sure how long it takes for a building to entirely disintegrate and fall in upon itself, but this one is well on its way.

You can't see it here, but there was a raccoon jammed into a crack at the corner. We gave it a wide berth.

The light was uncooperative the day we were visited. Needless to say, I can't wait to go back and photograph this building at different times of the day and year.

As an extra treat...this abandoned place has its very own "ghost" story...well, witch story.

Apparently, a witch was buried here. Her grave was dug facing a different direction than the rest of the graves and was encircled in a fence. Because it kept getting vandalized, they took down the fence. As a result, I could not identify it.

I will have to take one of the locals up to identify it for me because I cannot resist knowing which grave is hers.
