We have a penchant in this country for snappy titles...somewhere on the web, they called this snow storm a "Snowicane" and categorized it as a category 2 hurricane. I don't know about that. I have to admit, our end of it was very quiet and gentle, but it did produce prolific amounts of snow. I think we have acquired something like 50-60 inches of the white stuff since Tuesday and it is still coming down. We've spent the better part of the last four days digging out; the snow drifts are at least a foot over my head. Yesterday, it was my job to climb on top of the six foot piles and move the top layer of snow into the little furrows and valleys behind the pile so we'd have more places to put the snow we were shoveling. It was an exciting job. I kept falling through the bank and got all wet and snowy.
I have been trying to get a few pictures here and there but it has been hard as the snow has been continually falling and everywhere I look just looks white...there are no quaint and picturesque nor stunningly dramatic shots to be had as it all looks the same...like an ocean of snow out of every window. It has been so bad that most of our little town's snow plows have broken down. The picture above, I believe, was taken quite early in the storm as the banks on either side of the street are now at least 5 feet high.
The snow sliding off the roof of our porch and the bank of snow on the ground have now met and created a snow tunnel of sorts right outside our front door. When I turn on the twinkle lights, it looks a little like the tunnel of love and it makes me wonder what Anne Shirley of Green Gables would have named it.
Here are a few shots, taken by Mr. MacGyver of light coming through the wall of the tunnel.
It is funny how he can see one shot and I see another.
..funny-nice, that is.
