Snow is gently falling outside, nothing dramatic, just dusting and pretty. The fire is dancing away. And for most of the day, it was quiet, my children having flown the coop to sleep over at friends' house last night. It was Punch's first sleep over. He's been invited many times before, but he's never wanted to stay and has come up with some pretty hilarious excuses for why he needs to be brought home. Our favorite being that he couldn't miss "leftover night"...we don't even have a leftover night.
It being so quiet at home, I finished Inkdeath (which I must tell you was the final and my favorite book in a series that I highly recommend that starts with the book Inkheart -- now a major motion picture). I also did a little sewing...the 100 Dresses, you know dah-ling.
But before I share any dresses (a treat which will just have to be saved for tomorrow), I promised to show my fat quarters drawers (sounds kind of racey, but it really isn't).
I like to organize them by color mostly, but I do have a few special occasions sections like Valentine's Day, Christmas and Halloween.
That way, if I need red fabric for a project on which I am working, I can go directly to the red section. It is quite handy and I highly recommend this system. Plus it is so yummy to look at.
You can see my Halloween section here...I love that orange fabric with the black swirls. I can't wait to use it.
One of the themes I am thinking about using for my 100 Dresses, is fruit. I have several different fat quarters with different fruits on them. But that is a summery theme, don't you think? You don't really eat watermelon in the winter, do you? It is much tastier when it is nice and hot outside.
Well, I have to go get ready for our big celebration of "Leftover Night"...you know, it really isn't a bad idea, I would just have to have some leftovers first.
