Amid anxiety and excitement, yesterday Punch and Judy started the year at their new school.
I spent a good month and a half collecting their uniforms. Thanks to some faulty ordering on my part, and faulty shipping on the part of the clothing company (a company whom I shall decline to name), we had to order three sets of skirts and four sets of polos for Judy before we got a set that fit her correctly, and we still didn't have her polos in time for school to start. It was stressful to say the least. As it was, everything we did have, needed to be altered. I hemmed the pants myself, but I took the skirt to a tailor for alterations, hoping to take a little pressure off myself in the midst of the uniform chaos we were so happily enjoying.
Despite this, the entire week before school started I had the feeling deep in the pit of my stomach that I was forgetting something. I made lists and checked things off. Everything was in order. I thought I was just imagining things...
Until...
Saturday at 8pm, Judy said, "We never picked up my skirt."
To this moment, I still cannot believe I forgot the skirt, especially after all the problems we had getting a hold of one that fit.
Sooo.....Bright and early Monday morning, at 7:30 precisely, Mr. MacGyver and the kids were waiting outside of the dry cleaners waiting for them to open so they could pick up Judy's skirt.
In the end, everything went smoothly. They picked up the skirt, Judy made a hasty change and Mr. MacGyver dropped them at the front door at precisely 8 am, in time for the first bell (school starts at 8:15).
The only hitch?
The skirt was still too long, so I will have to do the alterations anyway because there is no way I am paying them another $22 to put in a hem.
Note to self: Next time, no matter how lazy you happen to be feeling, do the alterations yourself!
(Needless to say, the photo with the skirt will be coming later.)
