Hello Pink Saturday revelers! It hasn't been very pink here...too much rain and flash flooding. Even now I hear the distant rumble of thunder! I am glad you have joined me today for I have a very exciting invitation to extend to you, and you, and you! Now on with the fun (more pink to follow and things you won't want to miss)! Here is a little video to get you in the mood.
Hitty Dauphine, as you well know, has been waiting for a new sister. She has been very patient, but a girl can take only so much suspense. And so one day, she decided that she would throw a party.
Before spending too much time on her party plans, Hitty Dauphine very wisely consulted Mrs. Witherwax and Becassine. She knew she'd never be able to pull off a party on her very own. She would need help with the planning, baking, cooking and decorating.
"Mrs. Witherwax, it will be my birthday soon. I will have been at Weathertop for one whole year within the next few weeks and I was wondering if, to celebrate this exciting occassion, I might throw a birthday party?" Hitty Dauphine asked her most polite manner.
"Well dear," Mrs. Witherwax responded, "I think that is an excellent idea. We haven't had a shindig here at Weathertop since Halloween. We could do with a little excitement. What do you have in mind?"
At that the three of them put their heads together and conferred quietly so that Bitty Aurelie Laurette would not overhear the special plans. Hitty Dauphine wanted her special theme to be a big surprise.
Shortly after speaking to Mrs. Witherwax, Hitty Dauphine went to her room and made out invitations to everyone at Weathertop. Not a single person would be neglected. She was careful to use her very best penmanship.
After addressing each envelope, she hand-delivered each missive to the appropriate guest.
First, she went into the nursery and the schoolroom to invite the Weathertop Bittys. No party would be complete without them in attendance. They always bring a bucket-load of fun, spirit and shenanigans to any get-together. And Hitty Dauphine knew secretly that they would all get a kick out of her party theme.
She found all of the Bittys engaging in relaxing summertime rainy-day activities (it has been too wet for the woodens to set foot outside...we wouldn't want to warp our pegs). Everyone was rightfully excited!
Some of the older girls even started planning their party couture. I mean, goodness, we have to keep our priorities straight. Libby is raising toadstools for her summer science project. "They would make a lovely decoration at my party," Hitty Dauphine thought to herself.
Hitty Dauphine felt especially pleased to secure the promise that Niamh, Tom and the baby would attend the festivities. She would have to be sure to have baby appropriate activities set out for the wee ones.
As she handed out the final invitation to the Weathertops, she felt a shiver of excitement run down her spine. This would surely be a birthday to remember.
She has only one invitation left to deliver...
...To YOU!
