It has been a few weeks since Hitty Dauphine's big birthday bash, but she still has quite a few presents for which to thank people. Shame on her! Has she been neglecting her Emily Post?
The only problem is...
Well...
"...what is this thing we are thanking the Aged P for?"
Is it a chamber pot?
"Evalina! We are not in a chamber!" exclaimed Hitty Dauphine.
Or a spittoon?
"GIRLS! PLEASE! Conduct yourselves like ladies! Besides, it is clearly an umbrella stand." Informed Becassine.

When my mom and dad came to visit me last month, my dad said he had a little present for me, emphasis on the "little." Wearing a huge grin, he pulled out a little gift, wrapped in tissue paper and told me to open it. He seemed quite self satisfied with the prospect of giving this item to me. Inside was the little gold doo-dad featured in this post. He laughingly told me that it was either a spittoon or a chamber pot for the Hittys; I could decide. When I started blogging, I was surprised how much my Mom and Dad enjoyed reading my blog. It gives me a thrill to know that I can share this little spot in my life with them. It was fun for me to have my Dad join in the fun of Hitty Dauphine's blog party in such a playful way and it obviously pleased him to no end. And no matter what we decide this object should be, it will always bring a smile to my face.
I am sorry it has taken me so long to post the winners of my giveaway. We've been having thunder storms off and on for days and had a power outage last night and then I had familial duties this morning, but I am ready to make the big announcement now!!!

I hope you all had a wonderful time at my 100th Post Blog Party. I have enjoyed all of your comments and emails very much and intend to respond to each of you personally. If you haven't had a chance to visit it yet, there is still time to visit and enter your name for the FIVE give-aways at the end of the post. We will not be drawing names until Friday afternoon. Of course if you visit my 100th Post Blog Party you will want to visit this post, and this post as well for the whole story.
But enough of that, we are moving on!
On Monday my Mom and Dad, to be henceforth referred to as the Aged P's (a reference from Dickens' Great Expectations, if you didn't recognize it immediately), arrived for a 10 day visit. I am not, shall we say, an attentive housekeeper, and a visit from anyone usually throws me into a tizzy of cleaning. Needless to say, I have been busy, busy, busy. But now that the Aged P's have arrived, it is time to relax and do some recreating (not to be confused with re-creating, you silly bean).
This morning, Judy suggested that we go for a hike. After some deep contemplation and reference to the weather predictions for today, I agreed that this would be an excellent pursuit on this nice, sunny, but not particularly HOT day. It was slated to be PERFECT walking weather! Here are some shots from our walk.
It is always fun to look for treasures in the forest.
There are jewels of every color and size.
Resting...
The Queen Anne's Lace is finally beginning to bloom. I look forward to its arrival every summer!
Of course, even when resting little boys are never still.
I believe we were being attacked by some sort of Sasquatch or alien forest dweller. It is a good thing there were plenty of pine cone grenades lying around.
The victors...don't they look pleased with the outcome of the battle?
Open...
Closed... (These two photos, if you hadn't guessed, are of the same species of flower in differing stages of its blooming cycle. I thought it particularly beautiful).
A rare moment indeed. Punch and Judy deigning to sit upon the same log, in the same forest! I am glad I caught it on camera.
The long road home.
Please stay tuned for our drawing on Friday! If you haven't thrown your name into the hat yet, please do! The more the merrier!
I know that you are all here to celebrate yet another marvelous PINK Saturday! If you are interested in seeing more Pink Saturday fun, please visit Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for a full list of participants.
That having been said, I am so glad you decided to visit me today so you can see some of the delicious preparations we are making for our party tomorrow.
A PARTY? You ask?
Yes, and YOU are the guest of honor. To receive your very own invitation, visit last week's Pink Saturday post.
We have been busy this week making our preparations. How about a peek?
Hitty Dauphine, Becassine and Mrs. Witherwax have been busy in the kitchen baking up all kinds of delicious PINK treats.
Just get a look at these mouth watering morsels.
Oh, and there is so much more that we are NOT showing you! Something to tempt every taste bud!
As Hitty Dauphine was running and fetching, emersed in her party preparations, she accidentally happened upon a small group of Weathertoppers deep in conversation.
"Shhhhhh....she's coming." Hitty Bookish whispered as Hitty Dauphine walked into the room.
"Hello, Hitty Dauphine!" The girls all called cheerfully. "You look like you have your hands full." They all moved to talk to her at once, obviously trying to act like nothing was wrong. But Hitty Dauphine noticed someone scampering out the door like she didn't want to be seen.
"They must be planning a surprise for my birthday." Hitty Dauphine thought to herself.
"Hey, Hitty Dauphine," Dido Twite quipped. "My cousin is visiting from out of town, do you think there might be room for one more guest at your party?"
"I'd love it if your cousin could join us! Mrs. Witherwax, Becassine and I have been baking up a storm. There will be plenty to go around with tons to spare, I am sure." Dauphine replied. But to herself she thought, "That's odd, I didn't know that Dido Twite had a cousin. And you think you know people." However, being busy, she didn't contemplate any of these things very long.
The girls went on their way and Hitty Dauphine really buckled down to work. You've never seen a little wooden girl work so hard.
She dusted and cleaned. She moved furniture all around. And then she went to work sprucing up the room with streamers.
She wanted every strand to be in place and everything to be "just so."
She cut some fancy pennants to drape across the fireplace.
"I will have to find different decorations to put on the mantle itself." She thought to herself. "Everything must be festive!"
Stretching and hanging streamers is hard work for a little wooden doll to accomplish on her very own, so she took a break to arrange some of the serving pieces on the table.
She bought very special serving ware for the occassion. She wanted everything to fit her "theme." Have you guessed what it might be yet?
That is all we have for you today, but I hope you'll join us here on Fairiemoon tomorrow, Sunday July 12th for our big celebration. We have so much more planned. There will be the party itself to entertain you, but we also have FIVE wee giftees -- A GIVEAWAY!!! -- we intend to give to five happy party guests...a little something for everyone, we hope.
So put on your party hats and please join us tomorrow, Sunday July 12th (starting at 6:00am Eastern time and lasting well into the first of the week) for our big 100th Post Blow-out celebration!
HAPPY PINK SATURDAY!
See you tomorrow!
Here's a little party video for you to enjoy until then...
